Is it just us or do people seem a little bit "put off" by politics lately?
There's been a lot going on in the world, and we - perhaps like you - have noticed a lot of this -> ☹️.
We've heard phrases like:
Even though we're all out there doing our best to make the world a better place, we realize that a few of the world's problems are ever-so-slightly beyond our reach to fix.
Q: What (else) can we do?
There's not one "right" answer... but we're going to try out something a little bit different; have some fun.
We're going to try to disrupt a bit of the doom and gloom enshrouding our beloved discipline with some interactive, (hopefully) fun, imaginative activities.
Why? Because it opens doors.
We deal with big problems and heavy subjects daily, and that can be intimidating, especially for those on the outside or on the periphery of the broad range of topics within political science. Introducing some of these concepts in a structured yet light-handed way may bridge that gap and strike up some tough but real conversations at events like CU Welcome Week, Spring Fling, and more.
To kick things off, we're experimenting with a gigantic political poetry wall (Shout out to TEDx Innovations for the How-To) and we'd love to - in "poli sci speech" - source the concepts and ideas democratically, from you guys - our students, readers, and fans.
